Galapagos Islands, Ecuador

Special notes about the Galapagos: Visitors must be supervised by a government licensed naturalist guide. Things we did, like giving a giant tortoise a neck scratch, were suggested or had to be approved. Also, animals have no natural predators and so aren't afraid if a human comes near them. (Of course, we had to be respectful!) The exception was flamingos, which couldn't be approached.
